Getting back to the girls
I’ve started working on the German girls’ letters again. I’ve managed to decipher a little more of the handwriting now but there is still some way to go. In my fictionalised version, I have fewer girls so we have more of a story for each. As I’m getting to know them again they’re redeveloping their personalities.
I’m going to have to fictionalise them even more for the letters after November 1944. Various timelines I’ve found, The War Papers and some eye-witness accounts are really going to help here.
I’m beginning to wonder how the three strands will dovetail together. I’m actually really anxious to do that soon. I’m looking forward to reading it that way. The completion of the first draft is in sight. There will, of course, still be a heap of work to do after that.
